DAY    1            DEPARTURE FROM NASHVILLE –
                          ARRIVE SAN JOSÉ (2 NIGHTS)

We will be met at the SJO airport by our tour manager/guide, where we will board our own private coach and transfer to our hotel in the area of San Jose, the capital City.  Dinner is arranged for this evening in the hotel.

DAY    2            JOSE & POÁS VOLCANO
This morning we depart San José and travel to Poás Volcano National Park, an active volcano whose main crater is more than 1 mile wide and constantly active with fumaroles and hot geysers.  Poás is surrounded by dense cloud forests, and we will hike some of the nice gentle trails.  The volcano experiences plumiforme cyclical eruptions similar to those of a geyser, which consist of columns of muddy water together with steam that rise from a few meters to several kilometers. These eruptions have made Poás famous as the biggest geyser in the world. In the afternoon we will enjoy a City Tour in our private bus to view the capital city major buildings. As a wonderful conclusion to our day we will attend a Tiquicia Dinner and Show that includes a show of native Costa Rican folklore dances and a buffet of local cuisine.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

DAY    3            SAN JOSÉ - SARCHÍ – FROG POND –
HIDDEN VALLEY NIGHT TOUR - MONTEVERDE (2 NIGHTS)

This morning we visit nearby Sarchí, Costa Rica's main artisan town, where we will view the colorfully painted miniature oxcarts, which are made here.  Oxcarts such as these were once used to haul coffee beans to market, and they remain a well-known symbol of Costa Rica.  In addition to miniature oxcarts, many carved wooden souvenirs are made here with rare hardwoods from the nation's forests. We continue to our Monteverde hotel.  We will then visit the Frog Pond - admire 20 species of amphibians such as the colorful poison arrow frog, the large marine toad and the famous red-eyed tree frog. 'Our mission is to give the opportunity to everyone to see the wonders of the amphibian world and work towards the consersvation of frogs and toads of Costa Rica. Amphibians are declining and disappearing at an alarming rate. We need to act fast to ensure their future survival. This exhibit and research facility acts as a sanctuary for many endangered frog species and we hope that our studies will lead to insights regarding a proper amphibian conservation. We are also committed to disseminating information regarding amphibian concerns and sharing with the visitors the beauty of this natural world. The Frog Pond donates part of each ticket purchase to the Costa Rica Conservation Foundation. These funds are used for the habitat protection. Your visit helps us to accomplish this goal'.  This evening we take the Hidden Valley Night Tour that allows us to see a wide variety of nocturnal creatures.  The naturalist guide will explain many of the unique features of the forest and creatures that inhabit it while navigating the trails.  This ecotourism project allows you to enjoy your night hike, while taking in the diversity of flora and fauna found here.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

DAY    4            BUTTERFLY GARDEN, CLOUD FOREST RESERVE
                          & SERPENTARIUM

Afterwards the group will enjoy a Trail Walk in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, where we will view the diverse selection of flora and fauna as the reserve is home to six different vegetation communities, over 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, 120 species of amphibians and reptiles, and 2,500 species of plants (among them 500 different kinds of orchids).  Our day concludes with a visit to the Monteverde Serpentarium, which features many of the snake species found in the region.

DAY    5            MONTEVERDE - HACIENDA GUACHIPELIN (1 NIGHT)
Our journey today takes us to Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin, a truly eco-touristic lodge for adventure travelers and nature lovers.  The hotel is surrounded by lush gardens with native trees, exotic flowers and many bird species, and it features wonderful views of both the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano and the Pacific Ocean.  Natural hot springs, rivers, natural pools, virgin forests, jungle waterfalls, thermal waters, tropical forests with birds, mammals, reptiles, insects and volcanic mud pots are just some of the many natural attractions we will enjoy during our stay at the Hacienda.
Following tours are scheduled in the afternoon:
Las Chorreras Waterfall: A double waterfall that joins the Blanco River and together they form a natural blue pool. An excellent place to enjoy a dip in the water or just to admire the beauty of the scenery. It is at 1 km. from the hotel.
Volcanic Mud Springs & Spa At Simbiosis Spa, in Rincón de La Vieja Volcano and National Park, you will benefit from the mysterious forces and healing energy of Nature. At this unique spa in Guanacaste you will benefit from the exciting and impressive volcanic activity bathing in its thermal water springs, applying natural mud from the hot boiling ponds and receiving relaxing massages or specialized health treatments from professional therapists in the middle of the jungle, close to a relaxing flowing pristine river. Hidden in the middle of the forest, you will find the thermal volcanic mud water pools (aprox. 40°C / 104°F) that receive the water directly from its source in a volcanic mud pool and have therapeutic and cosmetic properties that you will enjoy in this unique place in Costa Rica.
