True Expertise in Concert Arrangement and Promotion
Concert arrangements require careful coordination among the Music Director, Casterbridge Concert Tours staff, and local venue authorities. During your dialogue with a Casterbridge Concert Tour Coordinator, you can expect our careful attention to the unique instrumental and logistical needs of your group. Likewise, we will advise you on the information we need to manage all concert arrangements, once again ensuring a smooth and successful tour experience.
Concert Arrangements
As we plan your concert arrangements, we always seek the following information from our Music Directors:
• Biography of your music director and of the ensemble
• CDs of your ensemble performing works that are representative of the tour repertoire
• Copies of recent concert programs
• What is your approximate performance space?
• What is the length of your concert program(s)?
• Does your group wear uniforms or robes?
• Will you be transporting any electrical equipment?
• How many chairs and music stands will you require at each venue?
• Will you need a director’s podium?
• Will you be taking handbells?
• Will you need pads and tables for the handbells?
• Is a piano required at each venue?
• Is an organ required at each venue?
• Will you need risers?
• Will you need amplification?
• What instruments will need to be hired? (Commonly, large string and percussion instruments.)
• The weights and dimensions of all instruments and equipment to be transported from the US.
• Will changing rooms be required, and if so, how much time is needed before the performance?
• How much warm-up time will you need at the performance venue?
• How much rehearsal time do you require in the tour program?
Concert Promotion
As a music director, you are well-aware that attracting an audience for your performances is vital for the visibility of your program, its general growth, and a feeling of achievement among your ensemble members. Concert promotion is therefore essential.
Likewise, we know that a primary goal of a concert tour is interaction with and performance for the local citizenry. An opportunity to perform in a foreign country, let alone a prestigious or intimate venue, provides memories that will remain with a musician perhaps longer than any other performing experience.
Therefore, we have created our concert tour promotion efforts with this end in mind.
- We produce 30-50 posters for each concert and arrange for these to be displayed near the concert venue.
- We write to music societies, colleges, churches, musical institutions, and associations within 30 miles of your proposed concert announcing the concert. We also invite all interested parties to share in the performance.
- Casterbridge prepares a Press Release promoting your concert for distribution to local radio stations, local TV Stations, Entertainment and Concert Listings, editors of local newspapers and Arts Correspondents in local newspapers.
- Our concert tour promotion also includes advertisements in local newspapers.
