Customized Language Tours to Europe, South America, & Asia
Casterbridge has long been a leader in providing quality language tours for student groups. We have contacts throughout the world and can custom design a language learning program exclusively for your group. Imagine taking the language skills taught in the classroom and putting them into action in a destination where that language is the native tongue. There is no better way to improve your students’ language skills then to travel on one of Casterbridge’s well-designed language tours to Europe, South America, & Asia.
Language tours normally include daily language classes in the morning or afternoon (depending on the destination) and half a day of sightseeing in the surrounding area. Language tours can also include a homestay element, which is another wonderful way to improve language skills.
Casterbridge already has a number of language programs for you to choose from. Just imagine improving your Spanish skills in Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, or Peru; building upon your French skills in cities, large and small, all around France; learning Italian and viewing the masterpieces of the Renaissance or Roman Empire; speaking German while exploring the great sites of Germany or Austria; or perfecting your Chinese while in the ancient capital city of Xi’an. All of this is possible with Casterbridge’s language tours.
Language Classes
Language classes normally consist of three 50-minute intensive classes with a 10-minute break between each. The classes can be customized to match the skills of your group, or if you bring students of varying levels of skill, they will be assigned to the appropriate class level. The class size is always small – normally 8-12 maximum – and the courses are of high intensity in order to maximize learning. Often, the classes on language tours focus on “conversational” language learning.
Homestays and School Visits
Another great way to improve your language skills is to include a homestay element in your touring program. You can include a homestay on any of our language tours or on a standard tour as a wonderful cross-cultural connection. A homestay experience can be one of the most rewarding aspects of a travel program and you can create friendships and contacts that last a lifetime.
We require our language schools to employ a strict screening process when selecting host families for our student groups. We always place two students per family for safety and comfort and each student will have their own bed. In order to have a homestay included in your customized group tour, you will need to stay with the family for a minimum of three consecutive nights. This is ideal, because you can get to know the family and have plenty of time to practice your language skills.
In a homestay, you will enjoy breakfast and dinner each day with your host family and then spend the day sightseeing with the group. You will be returned to your host family each evening for dinner and to join in with the evening routine and activities of your family.
School visits are another option you can choose on the majority of our language tours. Groups can spend a day, or half a day at a local school to compare our ways of schooling with theirs. This can involve sitting in on classes, participating in classes, spending time playing sports or other organized activities, or having lunch with the other students.
You are welcome to add a school visit as an activity on your custom-designed itinerary, even if you are not including language classes or a homestay.
