Service Tours – Humanitarian Deeds…For Our Global Needs
Service learning tours are volunteer travel programs that define who we are and how we relate to the planet on which we live. The overriding purpose of all service and volunteer programs is to facilitate worldwide travel experiences that raise our social consciousness and environmental awareness.
We therefore aim to blend education about science, nature, wildlife, and the environment with meaningful opportunities for humanitarian service and volunteering that can truly impact the world in which we live.
As such, every service tour integrates community service and environmental science through:
- Thematic programs with educational content that emphasize nature, wildlife, and environmental science.
- Cultural service activities that offer immersion into local communities and authentic opportunities for charitable visits or involvement in local projects.
Will You Be Part of Our Mission?
The mission of every service learning and volunteer travel tour is to:
- Facilitate worldwide travel experiences that raise social consciousness and environmental awareness.
- Build mutual understanding and respect for the planet and for each other’s culture at the level of individual human beings, both to encourage learning in the areas of science, nature, and the environment; and to facilitate immersion into local communities with authentic opportunities for charitable visits and work in local projects.
- Provide meaningful opportunities for groups of all ages and interest levels, through three levels of programs that feature volunteerism and the study of our environment.
- Honor a genuine commitment to sustainability in our own internal practices and the operation of all Planet Earth programs.
Casterbridge is conscious of the principles of the UN on sustainable tourism and it is our goal to work with our hotels, tour guides, and projects to ensure they follow sustainability practices as far as practicable. Please see the further details in our Sustainability Statement.
Three Levels of Service Learning Tours
Our group leaders can select from three specific levels of service learning and volunteer travel programs, with varying levels of service involvement. These three levels of are:
EcoTour
Explore and Be Inspired –
Inspirational Journeys of Exploration
An introductory service learning and volunteer travel tour. Every Casterbridge EcoTour emphasizes nature and wildlife as part of a touring culture, usually with two full-days of community service or charitable visits.
ContribuTour
Discover and Contribute –
Discover Global Destinations While Making a Difference
A mid-level service learning and volunteer travel tour. Our ContribuTours provide up to four full days of service and volunteering as part of appreciating the culture of a country and its natural beauty.
VolunTour
Experience and Transform –
Personal and Social Transformation in Communities of Need
A high-end, intensive service learning and volunteer travel tour. Each VolunTour stresses immersion into one locale, with some touring, but most of the time spent on community service or an environmental project.
